Exceptional Stories and Where to Find Them

By Haley Uyrus, February 24, 2017 · Exceptional Friendship Fallen London

As you may have noticed, we’ve been trialing different ways to present a season of Exceptional Stories. After experimenting, we’ve settled on a method that will allow us to keep the linked Exceptional Stories for each season together in one place.

From now on, Exceptional Stories of the current season can be unlocked through the following path:

  • A card will appear throughout London, such as this month’s The Season of Stones. This card will act as the initial introduction to the current season.
  • Then, a hub card such as The Season of Stones: The People Awakening, will appear throughout London. All three of the Exceptional Stories for the season will live here for the duration of the season.
  • In order to officially start the current Exceptional Story, or save it for later, find the corresponding starting branch, in this case, Unlock the Clay Man’s Arm. You’ll know that you have unlocked a story when you see: [You have unlocked this month’s Exceptional Friend story.]

We hope this has clarified any questions that may crop up based on this new system for Exceptional Stories. It’s also worth noting that moving forward, Exceptional Stories will not reside in the House of Chimes.

Any questions can be sent to support@failbettergames.com.

Were you tired of shoehorning the House of Chimes into every Exceptional Story? Also, is “card” the offical terminology? Is there a Storynexus glossary I can consult? I always thought those were storylets.

This is nice and clear - but I find it a bit awkward having the hub cards appear *everywhere*. Wherever I go, I have to scroll past them (on the iOS app) if, as is usually the case, they're not what I'm looking for at that time. I'd prefer that they appear in specific locations only - such as Your Lodgings and the House of Chimes. Or, alternatively, that I could dismiss them in some way so that I needn't see them every time I visit a location.

Greetings delicious friends! I appreciate the clarification, as well as the format as it's harder to mistake any of it now. I feel the clarification is just an improvement on an already clear system. I've enjoyed your exceptional stories and fully intend to continue to do so! Now just eagerly awaiting the tie-together for the Season of Skies. You have me on the edge of my seat! Compliments to you all as developers and writers. A better story-driven game could not be paid for.
