Fallen London changes: May 2014
The Clay Quarters
You can now explore the warrens of the Clay Men hidden under Ladybones Road. This is a light buffet of new content aimed primarily at characters with Watchful 25 and up, although a few options may be of interest to Persons of Some Importance, too. You may even run into some familiar characters...
We've also reworked the story of the Comtessa so that it uses the Pursue a Case system. If you are already a Finder of Heiresses, this content will not be available. If you were partway through it your progress has been largely preserved -- look for a new card in Ladybones Road. We've substantially revised the Pursue a Case card, too, and restructured some other early content, which can now be found on the storylet Life on Ladybones Road.
And, as ever, we've made many smaller changes.
Gangs of Hoodlums may now be named in the Bazaar Sidestreets.
The Gang of Hoodlums branch on Preparing for a Big Score will now appear at the top of the list if you're eligible for it. This is a quality of life change to reduce scrolling.
Rubbery Skulls, Black Wings Absinthe, and sundry other items which fall outside the usual hierarchy now appear on the far right of their respective categories. Another month, another step towards rationality on the Myself tab. Within a year, items and qualities will be arrayed on orderly phylogenetic trees. This the 19th century is an age of reason, and science marches on.
Your aunt may now, with some prompting, change her career. If she has a career and has not, for instance, been carried away by devils. Look under the Write Letters storylet in your lodgings.
Cards in places of Menace with no single-player options have been folded into other storylets.
The Young Stags card has been rebalanced. One branch on this card was rarely useful. The other was exceptionally good. We've toned the good one down very slightly, and made the other branch much more generous.
And lastly, we've made changes to many unglamorous but important pieces of infrastructure, including the tutorial, the mechanics of the Fully Informed Citizen quality, the advisory text for Schemes and Notability, and the qualities used to track certain storylines.
