Penumbral Play
Here's interactive fiction doyenne Em Short explaining that, although she doesn't particularly roleplay in Echo Bazaar, there are some lines she won't cross:
"My character is willing to try anything, *except* that because of her role in the Soul Trade, she refuses to sell souls or infernal contracts, or give them to devils. In practice, this means I have a wodge of those commodities in my inventory [...] that I'm not using for currency [...] What I do have is a self-imposed extra challenge that I can add onto the game: play this without taking full financial advantage of the souls and contracts, and in exchange, you get to imagine that your character has this one bit of conscience, one line she won't cross. Sure, she steals from her benefactors and sleeps with anyone she can get her hands on, but she doesn't sell souls."
Here's a gentleman named Munkey, outlining an unorthodox route through the first level of Hitman 2 in a walkthrough
"I drug the Don onto the roof in Anathema and pretended I was Rose from Titanic and that he was Jack,
I grabbed him by the hand and positioned myself to where he was hanging off the roof and only staying
up cause of my hand, then to myself I said "Ill never let go jack, Ill never let go" then I dropped
him and pretended 47 started to cry and I ran off the other end of the roof, killing myself..."
