We're hiring!
Update: the application period for these roles has now closed.
We're looking for a senior gameplay programmer as well as a producer or senior producer to join us full-time.
Senior Gameplay Programmer
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to new and existing Unity games.
- Write robust, readable code.
- Tackle a wide variety of programming tasks, including but not limited to AI and pathfinding, user interfaces, controls, narrative systems, procedural generation algorithms, and 2D physics (we're a small studio!).
- Work together with designers, artists and occasionally writers to create gameplay features that meet the formal requirements and also, more ineffably, feel good.
- Take part in decisions about system architecture.
- Debug, profile and optimise existing code.
- Find creative solutions to sometimes unusual problems (because we make unusual games).
For this role, you could either work at our London office or remotely.
Requirements (and Non-Essential Extras)
You don't need a particular degree, or some arbitrary number of years' experience or shipped titles to work for us. As long as you're able to do the job well and can demonstrate that in your application, we’d love to hear from you.
Any of the following would be nice bonuses, but they’re very much secondary and you don't need any to apply:
- Familiarity with Git.
- Experience developing cross-platform for PC and consoles.
- Anything else you think might be helpful – let us know in your application!
Producer/Senior Producer
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to decisions about project scope, resourcing, and milestones.
- Design, implement and iterate on our production processes.
- Work with programmers, artists, designers and writers to secure realistic estimates, plan and schedule tasks, and remove obstacles to them getting things done.
- Identify project risks and find ways to manage them.
- Make sure everyone understands project goals and vision.
- Identify and remove systemic causes of overtime (we like our employees to get home on time, even in launch month).
- Ensure project documentation is well organised and properly maintained.
- Co-ordinate closely with our QA specialist to ensure our public builds are of high quality.
For this role, we'd ask that you be able to work at our London office at least two days a week, but the remaining days could be worked remotely.
The salary and title (producer or senior producer) will depend on skills and experience.

About Us
We’re an award-winning indie studio, and we make atmospheric video games with choice-rich, imaginative stories at their heart. Our most recent game is Sunless Skies, a critically acclaimed literary RPG in which Queen Victoria has dragged London into the heavens, and your captain must struggle to survive in an Empire that unfolds across the skies.
Why Work for Us?
We can offer much better work-life balance than is usual in the games industry. We make our games without crunch and enthusiastically eliminate systemic sources of overtime.
Our work environment is friendly, welcoming, and inclusive. We have generous provisions for maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave, and our flexible working policy allows staff to adapt the way they work to meet their needs. We offer work experience, internships and incubations to help widen access to the industry. Also, sometimes we play games together.
Other benefits of working here include:
- Work from home for everyone, once a week.
- Flexi-time.
- Employer pension contributions.
- Twenty-five days of leave in addition to UK public holidays.
- Season ticket loans for public transport.
- Fruit deliveries, free games from our friends in the industry, and unusually good office tea.
Visas
We’re willing to sponsor a visa for this role.
Unfortunately, this is an uncertain time for EU citizens in the UK; we can't predict the outcome of the current political process, but if we offer you the role and it has consequences for your ability to live or work in the UK, we'll do our best to help.
