We’re so glad to announce that Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One! (There’s a launch discount, too – don’t delay!)

Originally released in 2015 for PC, Mac and Linux, Sunless Sea was our first premium game. It deepens the world of Fallen London – quite literally, in the case of the underwater Zubmariner expansion (included with the base game for a single price in the Zubmariner Edition for consoles).

Sunless Sea is a Gothic Horror RPG with a focus on exploration, exquisite storytelling and frequent death. If the giant crabs, sentient icebergs and swarms of bats don’t get you, madness and cannibalism certainly will. But that old black ocean beckons, and there’s loot for the brave souls who dare to sail her.

If you’ve dipped a toe in Fallen London and fancy a more gamelike way to explore that world, Sunless Sea: Zubmariner edition is worth a try!

Ello. Is it possible to link an FL account (for metaqualities) to the xbox one version of Sunless Seas Zub ed., or is that only available on PC? Snagged both Sunless games but have not found a login or connect account option yet. Super psyched to finally try them both!

Hey! Sorry if i'm beating a dead horse here. Recently picked up a switch, understand the ratings issue (I know AU can be tight on game ratings) is there no way to separate AU and NZ? I know we share a switch store but a shame that NZrs can't play due to AU legislation.

This is due to the game's rating being prohibitively high. We're looking into it, but have no timeframe I'm afraid!

Would there happen to be an update coming soon re. having Sunless Sea on the Switch in AU/NZ? I'd really like to download this game, but am not able to at the moment.

Unfortunately we know very little about it. It's staying on our radar because we'd rather not have the same trouble with Sunless Skies in a couple of months. Until then!

Darkwood and Ape Out are similarly unavailable but I’ve yet to receive a satisfactory explanation as to why. Given that there are plenty of games with harsher ratings in the NZ/Aus eshops, could you please elaborate on the restrictions you face in this matter? Please note that this is in no way a criticism of you, I understand that it’s largely out of your hands, however given that this is becoming something of a trend with indie games with higher age ratings, I’m starting to wonder if there’s anything I can do as a consumer to help effect change to make it easier to get age-restricted games approved for sale here. TLDR: What’s up with that?

Hannah Flynn May 4, 9:30am

Unfortunately, Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition isn't available for sale via the eShop in NZ/AUS because of the game's rating. I'm sorry to disappoint. :)

Hello! I'm afraid Nintendo aren't allowing the sale of Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition in NZ/AUS because of the game's rating. I'm sorry to disappoint!

Hey! This sounds awesome! I can't see it in my Nintendo store either? I'm another New Zealander... How do I get a copy for my Switch?

So exciting to see the game on Switch! Unfortunately I can't seem to see it in my e-shop? Is it geo-locked at the moment? I live in New Zealand!

I'm glad you're interested in an XBox One version of Sunless Skies, because it's already confirmed to be released in Aug/Sept time!

Congrats on these releases! Love the prose--nothing quite like it on the market--and hope these sell well enough to pave the way for an X1 version of Sunless Skies.
